ColourQ #161

Happy Halloween Eve. Are all of you ready for the ghosts and goblins? We live a ways out town so we don't get any trick or treaters. Our church has a Fall Family Festival every year on Halloween. There are all kinds of games and a petting zoo and live music. It's a nice safe place for the kids to go. My daughter and her fiance' our both on the church staff so they will be down there helping.

This week at the ColourQ we have another great set of colors.

For my card I decided I wanted to see what I could do with this week's colors, and not make a Halloween card.  That wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. The two shades of yellow threw me off a little. But I managed to come with this. I think the black polka dot leaves are fun.

This week's colors:

I hope you will join us this week. If you're in need of some amazing inspiration stop by the ColourQ.

Have a safe and happy Halloween,

Deanna Jean

Black Tie Week & Over The Edge

I'm stopping in really quick with a card I made yesterday for this week's Dynamic Duos & CAS-ual Fridays challenges. It's the 3rd week of the month so that means it's Black Tie at Dynamic Duos. This means one color plus black and a dessert option. So the colors are black and orange and the dessert option is die cuts. Over at CAS-ual Fridays the theme is over the edge..super fun concept.

I love the pop of orange from the butterfly. I cut two of them and attached them at the body and popped the wings up.

The challenges:

Thanks for visiting. Be sure to check back tomorrow for this week ColourQ.

CAS(E) this Sketch #2

It's been cold and very dreary all weekend. You all know what that means...lots of craft time :) I love being able to just sit and create and not feel like I have to do anything. Oh there was plenty of laundry and cooking throughout the weekend too. That seems to be never ending. This is the second week of challenges over at CAS(E) this Sketch. Their first challenge looks like it was a big success. Love to see this!

Here is my card for this week.

I die cut the bells and fussy cut the flowers. I added a touch of Copic marker to the centers of the flowers and finished them off with a black pearl.

This week's sketch:

If you haven't had a chance to check out CAS(E) this Sketch you should head over there and take a look.

So Proud of You

A few days ago one of my co-workers that I haven't seen in months stopped by my office. I couldn't believe what I saw...she has lost almost 50 pounds! She looks amazing. I wanted her to know how proud I am of her so I made her this card.

I stamped the flowers twice. One I cut around the outside and the other I cut the center out. I added a few flicks of color with a Copic marker. After I attached the flowers I went around the white with a pen to create the frame.

Here you can see the layers. I attached the flowers with my dots and the white piece is attached with foam tape.

CASology = Leaf

I finally get to play along over at CASology this week. Every week I have such good intentions. Then time gets away from me and before I know it there's a new challenge up. This week the cue card is leaf.

Here is my card.

Leaves are so fun to stamp. I did the rock n roll technique with various fall colors. One thing about doing this technique..you never know what you're going to get. Every leaf is different. I had my card all put together and showed my hubby. He said it needed something on the kraft..at the time there was nothing on it. He was so cute..he said I need to stamp some leaves in VersaMark or something. Yep..he's pretty amazing:) I actually stamped them in Fine Linen and Classic Kraft.

Have a wonderful Friday evening,

ColourQ 158

Happy Tuesday! I'm here today with this week's ColourQ challenge. Arielle has given us some really fun Halloween colors. I have to confess though, I had a really hard time with these colors. The purple kept throwing me off. It took me two days of trying all kinds of different stamps and layouts before I finally came up with this one. Phew...:)

You can't see it in the picture, but I cut the spider's body out and attached it with one of my dots. Before I attached it I put some Glossy Accent on it. In person it looks great. I wish it would have shown up in the picture.

Here is this week's inspiration photo and colors. Doesn't it look like the sorting hat from Harry Potter? Kinda makes me want to read them again. In fact my daughter is reading them right now...this is only her 5th time.

I hope you will join us this week at the ColourQ. I think we're going to see a lot of Halloween cards. I look forward to seeing your amazing creations.

See you soon,

Dynamic Duos #23 & Freshly Made Sketches #55

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and spent some time creating on World Card Making Day. I was able to spend some quality time at the Kloset. It was so nice to just sit and play. I have tomorrow off for Columbus Day and my daughter and I will be starting on her wedding invitations. The wedding isn't until August but the invitations are going to require a lot of work, so we're getting an early start.

Here is one of the cards I made yesterday. The colors are for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge, and the sketch if for Freshly Make Sketches.

When I first started on the card I had just the flower and the leaves. It was pretty but looked like it was missing something. The "trellis" was my daughter's idea.

Here you can see the dimension on the flower and how I cut the petals. The flower center is attached with my dots and the flower is attached with foam tape.

ColourQ #157

Happy Tuesday and welcome to this weeks ColourQ. As most of you know October is breast cancer awareness month. Arielle has given us an amazing inspiration photo with lots of pink. I decided to go on the softer side with my card this week.

I know first hand what cancer can do. Though I am not a breast cancer survivor, I am an ovarian cancer survivor and my brother is a testicular cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with my cancer when I was 17. I had surgery and 6 months of  chemo. Through the grace of God, and the love and support of my family and friends, I have been cancer free for 24 years. My brother has been cancer free for 9 years now.

I dedicate this card to all who have been affected by this awful disease, regardless of what kind of cancer. Keep your chin up and stay strong.

This week's colors.
I hope you are able to join us this week. Be sure to stop by ColourQ and see what the rest of design team has created with these great colors.
