ColourQ #187

Happy Tuesday! I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. I spent most of mine working on my daughter's wedding. We got so much done..feels really good. With less than 4 months to go we are in full wedding mod around here.  I'm stopping in with my card for this week's ColourQ.

Look at all that color..haha. I know, not normal for me. This pattern was actually my daughter's idea. I spent about an hour looking at these colors and all of my stamps and nothing was coming to me. I finally asked for her help. I stamped the pattern on a full card front, then I cut the top the size I wanted it. To keep the pattern going I cut the remaining portion off the bottom of the bottom piece. I stamped the sentiment and attached the two pieces with foam tape.

This week's colors:
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I hope you are able to join us this week.

Retrosketches #61

I have had so much fun the past four weeks as the April Headliner at Retrosketches.  The design team is beyond talented and just the sweetest ladies ever. Thank you Arielle for inviting me to join you guys. This week's sketch is based off of this gorgeous card by Arielle.

Here is my card for this week:

What a versatile sketch..just think of all the possibilities. You can keep the base the same and just mix it up by changing what you put on the white. I will be adding this sketch to my book that's for sure. I stamped the watering can then created a mask and stamped the flowers. To get the textured look on the watering can, I pulled the stamp across my ink pad then stamped it. I stamped the sentiment then added the texture. The green paper is attached to the card base with my dots and the white panel is attached with foam tape.

Here is this week's sketch:

I hope you are able to join us this week. As always, thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Blessings,
Deanna

My Time Is Up

Where have the past 6 months gone? It's hard to believe my time on the Dynamic Duos design team has come to an end. I have truly enjoyed working with this amazing and very talented team of ladies. No worries though, I will still be around, but just on the other side playing along.

But today is not all sad because Leslie is also having a Surprise Birthday Linky Party for our very own Vicki who's birthday was on the 24th. The link will be open until May 1st so there is lots of time to join in the birthday fun. For all the detail, and the link head on over to Leslie's blog.

Here is my Birthday card for Vicki.

Love, love, love this week's colors. I did bring in a third nutral color of Crumb Cake. To add a little extra touch to the flowers I added little black dots in the centers.

Here are this week's colors:
As always, thanks for taking the time to stop by. I also want to say thank you all for making the past six months on the Dyanmic Duos design team so much fun. I'm looking forward to seeing who Leslie has put together for the upcoming team.

Fusion #4

Happy weekend eve. I hope all of you have had a wonderful week. I'm here today with my card for our 4th Fusion challenge. I just have to say that you guys are rocking these challenges! I have seen some amazing creations over the past few weeks.

Here is my card for this week:

I can't seem to put this stamp set away. I love the beautiful bold flowers. I stamped the flower, then created a mask by stamping it again on a piece of printer paper and cutting it out. When I do this I save the mask and store it in the case with the stamps so I can use it again later. I then stamped the leaf and the sentiment. I added the double lines with my Micron 03 pen to represent the strip in the sketch. The sentiment already had the double lines under the Happy Birthday, so I did double lines to make it match.

Here is this week's sketch and inspiration photo:
What will you decide to do this week? Will you go for the sketch, the inspiration photo, or will you fuse the two together? I'm looking forward to seeing your creations. Be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the design team made for your inspiration.

Blessings,
Deanna Jean

Seize the Birthday #15

It's time to take our  Seize the Birthday sketch from last week and this time around it's all about those masculine birthday cards.

Here is my card:

Is he cute or what? After I got the digital image the size I wanted it to be I attached a small piece of my pattern paper to a regular piece of printer paper, and ran it through my printer. I cut him out and colored in the spots on his back with a black Copic marker. I printed a second image and cute out just the eyes so they would be white and not polka dot.

The winner of this week's challenge will win a $6.00 USD voucher code to redeem at SKdigis.

ColourQ #186

Happy Tuesday! I'm here with my card for this week's ColourQ challenge. I'm totally in love with this week's colors.

Here is my card:

If you play along at Retrosketches you may recognizet the sketch that I used. I started out by drawing the black lines with a ruler and my Micron 03 pen. Then I used a piece of  printer paper to create a mask around each box. It's kinda hard to see in the photo, but I added black pearls to the centers of the flowers.

I made this card for another co-worker that is leaving us. She lives about 30 miles from here in a different town and was able to get a job there.

This week's colors:
As always, I'm glad you took the time to stop by. I hope you are able to join us this week.

For Baby

My cousin and his wife had there first baby a couple of months ago. They had a sweet baby girl named Gwendolyn Collette. I've had the gift and card done for awhile, but I couldn't do a post because they hadn't had the baby shower yet. It was this weekend so I can now show all of you what I made.

They didn't find out what they were having before the baby was born, which I love. So as soon as she was born I got to work on crocheting the blanket you see under the card. Sorry I didn't take a picture  of just the blanket. You'll have to take my word for it that it turned out cute at can be. And of course I had to make the card match :)

Here is the card on the outside of the bag. I used my wonderful die from Laurie. She has them for sell on the right side of her blog. Is this brilliant or what!

Blessings,
Deanna Jean

CAS(E) this sketch & The Play Date Cafe

I hope all of you are have a nice Sunday afternoon. This morning before heading outside to work in the yard, I got a chance to do a little stamping. I come up with this card for this week's CAS(E) this sketch and The Play Date Cafe.

I loved the idea of the stripes on the sketch. To do this, I created a mask at the top and bottom of my card, leaving the amount of space between the two that I wanted for the stripes. The color really is gray I promise.  I really like how it turned out.

Here is the sketch and colors:

Retrosketches #60

I'm stopping in today with my card for this week's Retrosketches challenge. This week's sketch is based off of this card that I made. This is one of my favorite cards I've ever made, so I was super excited to give it another try and see what I could come up with.

Here is my take:

For this card I flipped the sketch. I wanted my card to have the same feel, but still be different than my original one. I also switched the solid and patterned panels. I love these flowers and I really wanted them to pop, so I stamped them in some fun bright colors. To add a little depth to them, I added a little color with my Copics. Papertrey actually has a stamp set that does this for you now, but I like to do it with my Copics.

Here you can see that I attached the green panel with foam tape and the flowers with my dots. I know..no surprise there. One of these days I'm going to do a card with no dimension and surprise all of you...haha.

Here is this week's sketch. I have to say that it's so neat to see one of your cards put into a sketch.
I hope you can join us this week. I would love to see what you create with this sketch.

Blessings,
Deanna Jean

Dynamic Duos #49

It's black tie week at Dynamic Duos. This week we are pairing up black with gray, and you have a dessert option of creating a masculine themed card.

Here is my card:

As you can tell, I opted to not do the dessert option this week. I'm in need of some wedding cards to I decided that's what I was going to make. The large flower was stamped on a separate piece of card stock and fussy cut, then attached with foam tape. After I got my card done I wasn't sure if I really like it as a wedding card. What do you think? Are the black flowers too much?

Here are this week's colors:
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and I hope you will play along with us this week.

I really liked the layout of this week's Muse card. The slight arch of the flowers is so pretty. And of course I love my white space :)

Can you believe we are on our third Fusion challenge already. There were some really amazing cards again last week. I love seeing what challenge everyone decides to do...so much fun.

Here is my card for this week:

My favorite kind of card, lots of white space. I stamped the leaves then attached my die cut flowers with my dots for that touch of dimension I love so much. Then I added the double lines with a pen. Quick and easy.

I used this super sweet image from SK digis. Because of the height of the image I had to turn the sketch.

Sometimes I think Arielle does this just to freak us all out...haha. I managed to pull it off. I stuck with one of my all time favorite layouts and kept it pretty simple.

Here are this week's BRIGHT colors:

RestoSketches #59

It's time for a new sketch at RetroSketches. This week's sketch is based on this card by the uber talented Laurie.

Here is my card:

I made this card for one of my dearest co-worker who's last day was yesterday. I've worked with her for 16 years. She has decided it was time to slow down some and get away from the stress of her current job. As the card says...I'm so happy for her.

Here is her package all put together. She loves her coffee so I got her a coffee cup and some freshly ground coffee from a local coffee house. (my house smelled so good)  I finally got to use my die that I got from Laurie . She has them for sale on her blog. Isn't this the coolest thing ever! We work so hard on our cards, and now everyone can see them. I wanted to put kraft colored tissue paper in the bag, but I couldn't find any. This is a little brighter then the flower but it was the closest I could find.

It looks crooked in the picture, but it really isn't. I have no idea what happened.
Here is this week's sketch:

I would have never put these two colors together. But you know...they work really well. I had so much fun playing with these balloon. I attached the balloons first then tied the strings around the work and then attached it. Both are attached with foam tape.

CAS(E) this sketch #23 & Fab Friday #16

Happy Friday. I had some time before my daughter gets home from work and I have to start dinner. I decided to take a look and find a challenge to play along with. I happen to find two. I used the sketch from CAE(E) this sketch and the colors from Fab Friday.

Here is what I came up with:

I whipped this card out in about 5 minutes. I don't think I've ever made a card that fast.

Here is the sketch and color combo:

Thanks for stopping by, off to fix dinner. I think I'm feeling tacos tonight. Be sure to come back tomorrow and check out my card for this week's Retrosketches.

Fusion #2

Wow! We had an amazing response to our first Fusion challenge. There were 107 amazing creations. I just have to say that I'm so happy all of you got to choose the winner by voting. There is no way I could have possibly picked a favorite. Thank you all for making our first challenge such a huge success.

It's time to kick off week two.

I love how the lines on the sketch go from light to dark, but man I struggled to get the look I wanted. I tried stamping them, but that didn't work out so well. I wanted to stay in the same color scheme and didn't have three colors that worked well enough together. Then I tried solid paper..nope, didn't like that either. Then I remembered I had this paper. Success!

Here is this week's sketch and inspiration photo.
In case you are new to Fusion here is how it works:
PROCEDURES:
1. Play with just Jackie's sketch challenge.
2. Play with just Lesley's inspiration photo challenge.

Seize the Birthday #13

It's week two at Seize the Birthday and it's time to make those masculine cards. Those that played along last week make some amazing feminine cards with our current sketch. Now lets see what kind of masculine cards you can make.

Here is my card:

For my card I decided to do some embossing and draw some lines to represent the horizontal lines in the sketch. To help pull it all together I did a line around the sentiment as well.

Here is this week's sketch:

As always thanks for taking the time to stop by. I hope you can join us this week.

CAS(E) this Sketch #22

Happy Sunday. I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend. We've had rain on and off all weekend. Just enough that you can't go outside and do anything. And I thought that if I can't go outside...then I'm crafting! I haven't had a chance to play along at CAS(E) this Sketch for a long time. I'm happy to finally get a chance to play.

Here is my card:

This stamp set in one of my all time favorite. These flowers are so fun to cut out and attach with my dots. I've never done them in orange..I think I like it. I stamped the row of dots and then added two score lines above and below them.

Here you can see the dimension I added by attaching the tag with foam tape and the flowers with my dots. It's just enough to give it a little pop.
